As part activities to mark her end of the year programme, the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike Women Association (MOUAUWA) has visited St. Vincent De Paul Destitute Home, Umuafai and the Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy Compassionate Home, Ahiaeke.
The President and wife of the Vice-Chancellor of MOUAU, Dr. (Mrs.) Nkechi Iwe said during the visits that MOUAUWA is driven by her passion to help the less privileged in the society. Dr. Nkechi Iwe encouraged the Reverend Sisters taking care of the homes to keep up with the help they render to individuals with special needs, maintaining that their service to humanity would never go unrewarded.
In their separate responses to the association’s gesture, the Reverend Sisters incharge of the charity homes noted that they are managed by Reverend Sisters of Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy congregation (DMMM) whose mantra is anchored on five virtues including charity, humility, prayer, penance and abandonment to the will of God. They disclosed that the running of orphanages, schools, hospitals, and other pastoral engagements were also part of their devotions.
The association prayed for God’s divine grace upon the charity homes, whilst inmates of the homes also prayer for the association. The wife of the VC, on behalf of the association, presented numerous items and made cash donations to the two homes.
