In a bid to advance society and empower mothers and families through education, Mothers in Education International has inaugurated a new executive committee for its Abia State Chapter. The event, which attracted key stakeholders and advocates for family development, also served as a reminder of the impactful roles mothers play in shaping the very fabric of communities.
In her welcome address, the newly inaugurated Abia State Coordinator, Dr. Mrs. Stella Williams Wogu, highlighted the purpose of the ceremony, describing it as a platform to reaffirm the organization’s mission of empowering families and building a more functional society.
“The inauguration ceremony is aimed at reaffirming the commitment of the forum to advancing the causes of mothers and families, working towards a more functional and prosperous society for all”,she stated.
Dr. Wogu stressed the importance of purposeful leadership within the forum, noting that Mothers in Education is composed of passionate individuals ready to drive tangible change.
“Mothers in Education is inhabiting members who will deliver impactful results that advance the mission of the forum as well as empower mothers and families through education”,she added.
Expanding on the event’s theme, “Impactful Mothers for a Functional Society,” Dr. Wogu emphasized the crucial role of mothers in nation-building. She called for a collective awakening to the indispensable influence mothers wield when supported with education, resources, and emotional backing.
“It underscores the critical role mothers play in shaping the fabric of the community, highlighting the importance of empowering mothers with education, support and resources to enable them to make a lasting impact on their families and society at large”.
She further urged attendees and stakeholders to support the forum’s efforts by spreading messages of hope and restoration.
“Give your unalloyed support and commitment towards building a better and functional society by pushing messages of restoration to every mother with the view of bringing to their consciousness that mothers are the most important vessels for social order and stability”, she appealed.
The Chairman on the occasion, Mr. Ngwaoke Obasi Uche, commended mothers for the roles they play in shaping the lives and futures of their children. Drawing from personal experience, he described how his mother’s influence was instrumental in his career journey.
“Thank you to mothers for the impactful roles they play in building their children’s careers.
“Your roles play positive impacts in shaping the future of your children”, he said.
Delivering the keynote address, the International Membership Chair, Dr. Andy Uchenna Eke, underscored the importance of instilling moral values in children from an early age. He called on parents, especially mothers, to model virtues like kindness, empathy, and responsibility.
“When you don’t train your child with honor and empathy, you are training an intellectual devil”,he warned.
Dr. Eke further encouraged mothers to be active educators not just in academics, but in values and character formation.
“Educate people on values, kindness, honesty, progress; all these aforementioned virtues can be taught”, he said.
He emphasized the transformative power of a values-based education, urging families to take moral instruction seriously.
“Ensure that with proper education which includes moral values, the sky will continue to be their stepping stone”, he added.
Dr. Eke also cautioned against the use of “miracle centers” for examinations, urging parents to help their children discover their true abilities and nurture their chosen career paths.
“An impactful mother assists the society”, he said.
“A functional society doesn’t only revolve around the government alone but in all”, he concluded.
In his inauguration address, the International President of Mothers in Education International, Professor Mkpa Agu Mkpa, congratulated the newly appointed executives and charged them with the responsibility of upholding the forum’s values.
“Be impactful members who ensure they never give up in the face of challenges but uphold the values and principles the organization is known for”, he urged.
Professor Mkpa charged all inaugurated executives to propose activities aligned with their portfolios that can bring the Abia State Government’s attention to the organization’s positive impact.
The former Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu, also encouraged the executives to embark on projects with dedication, seek counsel when needed, and stay grounded in prayer.
“In whatever proposal or activity you’ve chosen according to your portfolio, do so prayerfully and ensure that part of your mission remains to change our society”, he added.
