Most Beautiful Queen in Abia Donates Blood, as Health Expert Decries Low Level of Blood Donation in Abia

The Most Beautiful Queen in Abia (MBQA), Miss MaryJane Oluebube Iheukwumere has called on Abians to join other well-spirited individuals to save lives by donating blood free of charge.

Iheukwumere who stated this recently in Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Umuahia shortly after donating blood to commemorate World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) 2021, added that by donating blood free-of-charge, you are saving patients in health crisis.

The Uzuakoli-born model further stated that it was part of her Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to lead other models by example and ensure that people are mobilized towards donating blood free of charge for humanity sake.

Meanwhile, the officer in charge of Blood Bank, FMC Umuahia, Mr. Nwachinaemere Bob Uwakwem decried the very low level of blood donation by Abians, disclosing that two persons only donated blood in commemoration of 2021 World Blood Day in the tertiary health institution.

The World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) is celebrate every year across the globe as one of the World Health Days (WHD) of the World Health Organization (WHO) on 14th of June to celebrate voluntary blood donors for their rare act of heroism and draw attention to the plight of blood transfusion services in the health sector.
