Ministry of Tertiary Education launches digital skills training for staff, unveils future plans

 

Abia State Ministry of Tertiary Education has commenced a computer training for its Staff in line with the administration of Dr Alex Otti’s vision in making sure that every Abia Civil Servant is computer literate with the requisite knowledge and skills needed to navigate the rapidly evolving world of technology.

Speaking at the official commencement of the training at the Ministry’s Board room, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education Professor Uche Eme-Uche, said the training was organized to improve the efficiency of the staff, foster innovation,master digital tools and navigate through the day-to-day need of ICT.

Professor Eme-Uche, said that when she assumed office as the Commissioner she discovered paucity of knowledge in ICT among the staff, hence the need for the training to equip them.

She reminded them that the world was moving towards Information Communication Technology and Artificial intelligence , adding that anyone who refuses to navigate towards the trend will be left out.

The Commissioner who thanked Governor Otti for his vision in reforming Abia Civil Service, stated that the training will come in batches so as to afford the staff the benefits of being able to type memos, send emails, conduct researches and discharge other official duties using the computer.

She revealed that subsequent training will be based on administrative etiquettes, code of conduct and ethics.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Chinyere Okeziem-Nwoko expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for her noble initiative in equipping the Staff with Information Communication Technology skills to fit in the world’s 21st Century workspace.

Okeziem-Nwoko described the training as first of its kind in Abia workforce where all  staff members will acquire digital knowledge.

She added that the training also marks a significant milestone in line with the Ministry’s commitment to building the capacity of its staff and empowering them with the requisite knowledge and skills needed to navigate the rapidly evolving world of technology.

Participants in the three weeks training will be examined at the end and certificate of participation issued to them.
