It was a bad day for one Mr Monday Emmanuel, a native of Omoba in Isialangwa South Local Government Area, of Abia state, as Human Rights Operatives, arrested him for allegedly defiling three of his biological children in Abia.
Mr Emmanuel who is currently cooling off at the Umuobiakwa Police Station in Obingwa LGA, was accused of consistently defiling and molesting his three children for several months.
Narrating the ordeal, the mother of the victims, Ms Kelechi Daniel, confirmed that these acts have been going on for some months now, but she couldn’t speak up because the culprit threatened to kill her, if she dares exposes him.
She said as the abominable act continued between the father and his kids, she couldn’t hold it any longer, as she was falsed to report same to the local vigilante group in their area who alerted the police.
Speaking with the Human Rights Operatives by the name, Behind Bars Human Rights Foundation, that facilitated the arrest of Mr Emmanuel, the team Head for Abia, Princess Joy Uloaku Ogidinta, said her team was called upon to attend to the case of Mr Emmanuel.
“Swiftly, they swung into action, investigated the incident and made some findings that Mr Emmanuel actually assaulted and defiled his 10 year-old son anally and continually had carnal knowledge of him,the culprit also defiled his 8 year old daughter and same continued and as well,defiled his 5 year old daughter”,She said.
The Head of the Team further assured Abians of the safety of the kids and promised that justice must be served in the matter.
According to the Director General,Behind Bars Human Rights Foundation, Harrison Gwamnishu, revealed that as soon as his foundation came into the matter, the case was transferred to the State CID Umuahia,for further investigations and prosecutions as deemed fit.
Gwamnishu stated that his foundation, however, took the children through a medical test and the reports confirmed the story.
He said that the Human Rights’ Defenders are already in the custody of the kids and their mother, as advised by the court,with all medical procedures duly paid by the organisation.
Court proceedings would commence this friday,30th of April, as the culprit was charged for homosexuality, child molestation/abuse, as well as rape.
The leaders of the community in Akpaa Umuacha, where the culprit resides as a tenant, appreciated the timely intervention of the Human Rights group, pleading justice for the kids.
The culprit, however, confessed to the crime,blaming the devil for his act.
