Mercy Wave Foundation, Tour Prisons, Set Inmates Free, Pay Hospital Bills

Dr. Mercy Seaphora Uwakwe, founder, Mercy Wave Foundation 

A non for profits organisation, Mercy Wave Foundation, has embarks on outreach to the Nigeria Correctional Services, Aba to set some inmates free who they said were in detention because they could not pay their fines.

The foundation would also visit hospitals within the country to pay for medical bills of those who have been discharged but were held back in the hospitals by the management because they are unable to foot their medical bills.

It will also look at those who will not be able to afford treatment for certain ailments and help them commence treatment immediately.

The founder, Dr. Mercy Seaphora Uwakwe, said that the foundation’s vision is to promote humanity, welfare, rights of the marginalised and support to society at large.

Dr. Uwakwe whose country home is Igbere in Bende Local Government Area, said that this process of giving back to the society started a long time ago but was widen due to the outbreak of corona virus by giving out palliatives and at the same time sensitising the public because our motto is humanity first.

Another area the foundation has been working on are the area of empowerment for the youths and women, giving seed capital for small scale business start ups and providing full scholarship to deserving students of which about 1000, have benefited.

However, Dr. Uwakwe, emphasised that it gives her joy to give back to the society and called on those privileged to help in making the society a better place because government alone cannot do it.
