The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has extended the deadline for payment of the 2025 Practising Licence fees for medical practitioners to January 7, 2025. This extension includes a waiver of the late renewal surcharge, providing affected practitioners an additional grace period to update their licenses.
The MDCN attributed the extension to high traffic on its portal in late December, which caused delays for some practitioners. The council urged all affected professionals to utilize the seven-day window to update their personal records and pay the required fees to ensure their licenses appear on the 2025 Master Register.
A statement from the MDCN read:
“The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) is pleased to announce an extension for the payment of 2025 Practising Licence fees without surcharge, now extended to 7th January 2025.
“Every registered practitioner must renew their practising licence for 2025. This extension is being provided to enable practitioners, who missed the 31st December 2024 deadline due to high traffic causing congestion on the MDCN Portal in the last few days of December, to update their personal records and pay the required fees for the 2025 practising licence.
“It is this information that will be reflected on the Master Register. We encourage all affected practitioners to take advantage of this opportunity within the seven (7) day period.
“Payments for the 2025 practising licence fees to be made from 8th January, 2025 onwards will automatically incur the usual surcharges for late renewal.”
Payments made after the new deadline of January 8, 2025, will attract the standard late renewal fees.
