Mayor Nwankwo distributing rice seedlings and agric chemicals to farmers in Bende LGA 

In an effort to boost agriculture and socioeconomic development of the people, the Mayor of Bende LGA, Barr. Chijioke Nwankwo has started distributing bags of special breed of rice seedlings to farmers in the council.

Also distributed to the farmers were agricultural chemicals to support their cultivation.

According to the mayor, the initiative marks the first phase of a broader agricultural development programme we envisioned for the council and are in line with Governor Alex Otti’s agricultural development agenda for the state.

Bags of rice seedlings for cultivation 

The mayor also pledged a significantly scaled-up program for the second phase, aiming to further support more rice farmers in the local government.

“This expansion is also in collaboration with the state inistry of agriculture, leveraging their expertise and resources to maximize the modern methods of rice farming for greater yields” he said.

Recall that upon assumption of office, the mayor welcomed delegates from the Bulgarian government who moved round the council’s communities collecting soil samples for testing towards mechanized farming.

While the results are awaited, the council boss presently is working with Agric Development programmes(ADP) to train farmers towards achieving improved farm production.
