MANCHESTER UNITED: Ole Out, Carrick In

Manchester United have fired Ole Gunnar Solksjaer after the Red Devils were humiliated 4-1 by Watford on Saturday.

United are seventh on the table, 12 points behind leaders Chelsea after winning one of their past seven Premier League matches.

Michael Carrick, the first-team coach has been placed in temporary charge while United shop for a new manager.

Recall that Ole played for United between 1996 and 2007. He scored 126 goals including the winner in the 1999 Champions League final.

The Norwegian won 54.2% of the 168 games he oversaw at United.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, Manchester United have appointed four permanent managers namely, David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

United’s next game will be a Champions League encounter with Villarreal, whom they lost to in last season’s UEFA Europa League final.
