Rasmus Hujlund dragged down Rodri in United’s penalty area and after VAR checks City were given a penalty which Haaland converted in the 26th minute.
After the break, Haaland connected perfectly with Bernardo Silva’s cross to head home the second for the visitors.
Ten minutes from time, Haaland unselfishly squared the ball for Phil Foden to poke home.
Manchester United were completely outplayed. They did not lay a glove on their opponents, who are now third on 24 points same as second placed Arsenal.
Tottenham Hotspur are surprisingly top of the table with 26 points.
Manchester United’s next game will be on Wednesday against Newcastle United in the fourth round of the EFL Cup while City will wait till Saturday when they will take on Bournemouth in the EPL.
