Manchester Clubs Crush Opponents In Pre-season Friendlies

As clubs prepare for next season league actions, EPL champions, Manchester City and Manchester United were ruthless in their pre-season friendly matches as they crush their respective opponents.

Manchester United eased to a 4-0 win against old rivals Leeds in Perth to bring their nine-day stay in Australia to a satisfactory conclusion.

Mason Greenwood, 17, opened the scoring from close range after two minutes.

Marcus Rashford added another before half-time, when manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made 11 changes.

Phil Jones’ powerful header made it three, and Anthony Martial’s penalty rounded off the scoring in front of a crowd of 55,274.

Solskjaer’s side were without striker Romelu Lukaku, who is still to make an appearance on this trip after picking up ‘a knock’ in training on Tuesday.

Manchester City came from behind to thrash West Ham 4-1 in a pre-season friendly in China and book their place in the Asia Cup final.

A Mark Noble penalty had given West Ham the lead but David Silva equalized for the Premier League champions with a well-worked move.

Lukas Nmecha put City in front with a penalty, before second-half substitute Raheem Sterling scored twice.
