The State Government has addressed the people of Kabeama Community in Sagbama Local Government Area and the people of Amatolo in Southern Ijaw Area of the state to be calm over the incident that happened recently.
A man named Tony from Kabeama community, Sagbama Local Government, reportedly beheaded his girlfriend, identified as miss Maxuel Ebibraladie, a mother of one, from Amatolo in Southern Ijaw council area.
Her body was discovered by the neighbours in the morning, who alerted the community and the government.
The Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, through his media aide, Mr Doubara Atasi, said that, state government has been properly briefed about the incident and promised to bring justice to the bereaved family and ensure peace to reign.
He condemned such wicked act and described it as a sad development to the both communities which can bring enemity for eternity.
He disclosed that, the security agencies are also at work in line with government directives on the matter to make sure it doesn’t lead to conflict among the two villages
He urged the Chiefs and the both communities to avoid provoke words and actions that will escalate the issue, but rather cooperate with government and the security agencies to ensure a peaceful settlement of the matter, also advised the youths of Amatolo not to take the laws into their hands, maybe trying to retaliate since the accused is already in police custody.
The remains of the deceased have been deposited to Federal Medical Centre morgue, Yenagoa.
