Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool defeated Chelsea on penalties to clinch the English FA Cup.
In a keenly contested final in a capacity full Wembley Stadium, both sides missed couple of chances as the full and extra time ended goalless.
Chelsea captain, Cesar Aspilcueta missed his penalty and Liverpool were set to win if Sadio Mane would convert the last kick, but he missed. The penalties went into sudden death.
Mason Mount kick was saved by Allison handing Liverpool another chance to win. This time, they grabbed it with both hands as Kostas Tsimikas scored to ensure that Liverpool win their second trophy of the season and keep the hope of a quadruple alive.
However, this victory came at a very high price as Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk pulled out in the first and second half with injuries respectively.
With two matches to go in the English Premier League, second placed Liverpool still stand a chance of leapfrogging Manchester City to the title and they have qualified for the final of the UEFA Champions League.
