The Deputy Governor of Rivers State state, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has called on Elected female leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State to show competence in whatsoever position they find themselves, as their position calls for living an exemplary life and also to mentor the younger ones.
Banigo, who revealed that the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike was the pillar of democracy and the face of good governance in the state, commended women for contributing immensely in politics.
While speaking to PDP elected women leader in a meeting at the PDP Secretariat, Port Harcourt, noted that Rivers women have what it takes to do anything whatsoever in any particular time, adding that their hearts is always set to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.
Speaking earlier, a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Linda Somieari-Stewart, revealed that most of the sensitive positions being occupied by some women was as a result of the governor’s gender friendly disposition, stating that women were gradually moving from the era of sloganeering to the era of hard work.
More so, the Woman Leader of the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mrs. Mirian Ogbonna, charged women to let love and unity exist their midst, as leaders of the party at various levels needs to be valued and respected.
According to Banigo, “We are in a state where women are contributing.
I want to thank you all for your unflinching support for his government, since 2015.
You have been by him and praying for him. You have to be patient in politics. The mantra of politics is loyalty.
“I thank our governor for creating the political space for women to come out and contribute. He is the pillar of democracy the face of good governance, today. The international community is talking about Rivers State.
