Cultural performances, march-past, dance and songs rendition featured prominently in this year 2025, Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Women August Conference with the theme, Abia Women United in Strength: Empowered for Purpose.
The wife of Abia Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, who addressed the women at Umueleghele Community Primary School in Isiala Ngwa South local government area of the State described august conferences as an occasion that brings together the women of Igbo nation to discuss issues affecting them, their communities, entrench peace and to lead in a way that occasions developments in their communities.
She commended the organizers of the conference and call on the women to stay united, support one another and keep building the home to secure the future.
The wife of Abia Governor, Mrs Priscilla Otti accompanied by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adaeze Emetu and the wife of the mayor of Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Mrs. Nene Nwaogwugwu.
Mrs. Otti, also empowered the women with bags of rice, fertilizers for high yield farm produce and encouraged them to pursue entrepreneurship, start businesses, and contribute meaningfully to the economy of the State, assuring that the State government under Governor Otti, will not renege on policies that will empower women to make impact in Abia and the world at large.
“Seek positions, live with passion and engage in activities that promotes peace and unity as we continue to support one another for a better Abia State” she said.
In her remarks, the wife of the Chairman, Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Mrs. Nene Nwaogwugwu, said that this year theme is profound in the sense that it reminds us of who we are, the strength we carry within us as women and the purpose for which we have been divinely called to nurture our families, uplift our communities, and contribute meaningfully to the development of our local government and society at large.
Mrs. Nene urged the women to rise above unhealthy competition, division and embrace collaboration, mentorship, and communal support initiatives.
It is in working together that our shared dreams can be actualized. She further stated.
The Mayor of the council, Nnadozie Nwaogwugwu, commended the transformation Abia State is undergoing under the leadership of Governor Otti, adding that as his lieutenants in the grassroot, they have no option than to support the women even as they reciprocate the gesture at the rural communities.
Meanwhile, while Mrs. Onyinyechi Joy Nwosu of Vivacious Development Initiative centered her teachings on the role of women in ending gender based violence and child abuse, her counterpart Mrs. Amara Okafor of pediatric medicine from the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia emphasizes on the importance of vaccine against measles and rubella virus.
She encouraged the women to ensure that their children are properly vaccinated against these virus to overcome its health challenges.
