The Abia State Government has commenced the process of the implementation of the Supreme Court judgment on the land dispute matter between Ndi Ebe and Ndi Ojiugwo Abam in Arochukwu L.G..A, of the state, which ruled in favour of Ndi Ebe.
Addressing the people of Ndi Ebe and Ndi Ojiugwo respectively, the Chairman of the state Boundary Committee, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, who spoke through Surveyor Chris Nwanevo, the state consultant on Boundary matters assured the parties that the task will be performed in all fairness and in line with the ruling of the supreme Court.
He enjoined them not to interfere with the task, as they do not need any villagers around the area until the process is completed. He also assured that they will be invited to see what was done for agreement and unified acceptance and acceptability.
He assured the constant presence of the security until the task is completed, notifying them also that the Government of Dr. Alex Otti is interested in the peace, unity and development of the state, which could be achieved in a serene environment.
” We have come to inform you that work has commenced in the area where the supreme Court ruled in favour of Ndi Ebe, and it will be carved out in line with the ruling of the court. The work will be done in all transparency, so that peace will be restored. Governor Alex Otti, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, together with the members of the state House of Assembly have given their consent to this”, Nwanevu told the people, as he called for patience and cooperation from the people.
He said that the government has been doing a lot in positive peace building in the state, hence the need for all key in and join hands together for the growth, progress and development of the state.
In their speeches, Ezeogo Okoko Arunsi, Ocha-oza, the President General of Ndi Ebe Abam, Deacon Awo Chijioke and Mrs Chinyere Eze Agbai, appreciated the government for clarification and for the assurances of fairness in the application of the Supreme Court ruling on the disputed land boundary.
Also speaking, Ezeogo Augustine Ota Ola from Ndi Ojiugwo Abam, appreciated the government for intervention and expressed hope that the process will lead to a lasting peace and development in the area.
