Iwuanyanwu speaks on 2023 Igbo Presidency

 

An elder statesman and astute politician, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has disclosed that he does not believe in Igbo presidency come 2023, but he believes in a President of Nigeria of the Igbo extraction.

In an interview with our Political reporter in Umuahia, Chief Iwuanyanwu stated that considering the major role the Igbos played to obtain independence, as well as the development of the nation, it would be fair if they are given the chance to produce a President come 2023.

According to him, an Igbo President is what Nigeria needs right now, going by their belief in the existence of one united Nigeria.

He said the Igbo nation has proved in practical terms that they are detribalised, with their numerous investments scattered across the nation.

Chief Iwuanyanwu said Nigeria needs a President that will speak for the whole country, end insurgency, work for the education of the whole zones, without preference to any tribe, religion, ethnicity or political party, adding that an Igbo man is best for the job because he believes in one Nigeria.

He stated that there is no village in Nigeria that do not have an Igbo man doing business, paying taxes or rendering services.

The elder statesman said already he has made consultations from different political parties in the North as well as in the West and 90% of them are of the opinion that an Igbo man be given a chance to rule for fairness, equity and justice sake.

Chief Iwuanyanwu further revealed that he has already identified ten Igbo leaders that are fit for the presidency bid, going by their antecedents of incorruptibility, honesty, credible leadership style and good management.

He said he is not considering anyone above 70years of age, adding that in due time, Nigerians would know them.

On the issue of insecurity which he said has become worrisome, Iwuanyanwu opined for a reconciliation committee to be set across board to ascertain what the insurgents really want, thereafter a negotiation for a cease fire could be made.He added that, that was the strategy used by the late President Musa Yar’dua to end militancy in the Niger Delta region.
