“It Costs Government a Lot” – Gov Eno Laments Spate of Vandalism in Akwa Ibom

Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has raised the alarm over the high level of vandalism of public facilities, especially transformers in the state, saying it costs the government a lot to replace them.

Eno, who voiced his frustrations to the new Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, during a courtesy visit to him at the Government House, Uyo, on Monday, said the act also hinders rural development.

The governor said his government promotes community policing through Ibom Community Watch and added that he would post at least one person in every village to monitor government facilities.

His words: “For community policing, you are aware of the Ibom Community Watch. We are raising them to enhance community policing, and we trust that they will continue to do the work by giving you adequate information.

“Currently, we are trying to ensure that there is at least one in every village so that they can help particularly to monitor government facilities in those villages.”

He also congratulated CP Azare on his promotion and posting to the state, as well as other newly-promoted officers in the state, and assured his readiness to work with them.
