Isuochi Honours MOUAU Vice-Chancellor, Others

It was a gathering of notable personalities in Abia State, as the Isuochi Development Union (IDU), held a grand civic reception in honour of some illustrious sons and daughters of the community, among whom were the Vice-Chancellor, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Abia State, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe and the Vice-Chancellor, Wesley University, Prof. S.N. Ukachukwu.
Speaking during his opening remarks at the ceremony held at the Isuochi Unity Square, Isuochi, Umunneochi Local Government Area recently, the chairman on the occasion and the former Minister of Education and Health, Prof. Ihechukwu Madubuike extolled the exemplary qualities of Prof. Iwe.
He urged him and fellow honourarees to learn from the exploits of men and women from the community, who had once occupied high positions and surpass all their achievements.
In his remarks, the Bishop of Onitsha Methodist Diocese, Rt. Rev. Livinus Onuagha, heaped encomiums on Prof. Iwe, reminiscing on his early days as a member of the Scripture Union of Nigeria, describing him as an upright and God-fearing man with God’s favor to impact his community, Abia State and the nation at large.
while receiving his award, Prof. Iwe thanked the Isuochi community for honouring him and reiterated his commitment to do his best for the development of Isuochi land. Special prayers were said for the recipients.
Other illustrious sons honoured at the event include the Vice-Chancellor, Wesley University, Ondo State, Prof. S.N. Ukachukwu;
Executive Director, Planning/Design, Anambra-Imo River Basin Dev. Authority, Owerri, Mr. Chidozie Chukwumerije, member representing Umunneochi in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Okey Igwe, among others.
Those who attended the ceremony were the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu; represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, the Group Managing Director, Mainland Oil & Gas Co. Ltd, Prince Chris Odinaka Igwe, among others.
