Amidst the running legal battle between the leader of the controversial Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu and the Federal Government over the activities of the former, the Founder and General Overseer of the “friends of Jesus Global mission” (Inc) Bishop Maglorious Enyioha has implored the federal government to grant pardon to the leader of the freedom fighting organization.
The prelate, who made the appeal while briefing newsmen in Owerri, argued that Kanu only acted like a youth which provoked the face-off between him and the federal government and should therefore be tolerated as such.
The prelate castigated prominent Igbo leaders who have chosen to sit on the fence with sealed lips while the travails of the Ibo rages on in the country apparently having received gratifications.
“These people are smiling and suffering but Nnamdi Kanu is talking of secession as the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu did.
He (Kanu) spoke like a youth and if there is a way he erred, the federal government should pardon him because he spoke like a youth”.
“Nigeria is still being consumed by the cancer called tribalism and this is why lucrative appointments are reserved for a particular section of the country and this has now eaten so deep that it has even come down to the state level.
Once we know the truth and speak out against evil, the truth shall set us free”.
Bishop Enyioha who is the president world wide of the IBO SENIOR CITIZENS AFFAIRS FOUNDATION (ISCAF) lamenting that the nation has not known peace since her creation even as he called for immediate referendum to liberate her from her cobweb of persistent socio economic, political and religious upheavals.
“A nation shedding blood is on curse. The ISCAF is calling on President Muhammadu Buhari, the Federal Government, UN all, and others to help us. They should stop supplying us arms to fight Boko Haram which has said that they do not want western education. They should rather help us to organize a referendum which is the only way forward.
He explained that ISCAF is neither a political nor a profit oriented- outfit but one, put in place to forge unity among the Igbo nation, improve the lots of the rural dwellers wallowing in abject poverty, penury and destitution due to neglect by the government.
“These are people who have contributed so much in the service of their father land with honesty but who are now suffering as a result of neglect. Some have committed suicide but ISCAF is out to remedy their situation”.
