The Chairman House Committee on Public Service, Abia State House of Assembly (ABHA), Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr has felicitated with Nigerian youths on the occasion of 2024 International youth day.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, George Egejuru and made available to newsmen today in Umuahia, Abia State, the lawmaker representing Obingwa-West State constituency in ABHA, described youths as reliable partners in sustaining democracy in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.
Erondu Jnr described this year’s theme; ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways For Sustainable Development’, as apt and timely, insisting on inclusion of youths in governance at all levels.
The former chairman, Obingwa Local Government Area, noted that the digital age is reshaping our world, providing unique opportunities to accelerate sustainable development, urging youths to shun crime, upscale their digital skills and take the lead in building a better society.
The Uhie-born legislator said he appreciates the efforts of youths on the frontlines of the struggle to build a great future for all, reiterating his commitment to partner with them for the actualization of their dreams and goals.
In his words: “Youths are agents of progress and we will continue to provide through legislative means, platforms for amplifying youth voices, addressing their concerns, and advocating for policies and programs that support their growth and development”.
The lawmaker also urged government at all levels and critical stakeholders to empower young people, maintaining that they are leading the charge in digital adoption and innovation.
Erondu Jnr wished Nigerian youths and their counterparts across the globe a memorable celebration.
Youth Day is commemorated annually on August 12th, marking a special occasion dedicated to celebrating the energy, creativity, and contributions of young individuals across the globe.
