Abia State Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu has cautioned Staff members of Abia Newspapers and Publishing Corporation, ANPC, to be committed to work to reposition the National Ambassador Newspapers for efficient service delivery.
The Commissioner who stated this in a meeting he had with the workers on Wednesday said government would no longer tolerate indolence and unproductivity in the civil service system adding that workers must be ready to commensurate their salaries with hardwork.
The meeting came on the heels after government had announced that it would no longer pay salaries of parastatals that are not productive starting from December this year.
Chief Kalu disclosed that National Ambassador will begin its maiden daily publication on August 6, 2018 and charged all staff members to rise to the challenge.
He urged the management of the Corporation to ensure that the necessary requirements are on ground to sustain the publication and other activities of the Corporation.
The Commissioner, however, stated government’s readiness to deliver democracy dividends to people of the State and informed that Governor Ikpeazu led administration has started offsetting salaries of MDAs and parastatals.
Also contributing, the Permanent Secretay of Ministry of Information, Pharmacist Ifeanyi Agbai, urged the staff members to show commitment to duty and be disciplined adding that hardwork pays.
In a vote of thanks, a staff member, Amarachi Kenechukwu, thanked the Commissioner and his team for visiting the Corporation, and promised to work hard to the upliftment of the corporation and the State.
In company with the Commissioner on the visit were, the Director of Administration, Mr. Onuoha Udeala, and State Director of Information, Mr. Iyke Odoemena, all from the Ministry of Information.
