The Rivers state Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp Abu Tambuwal said it has arrested five suspects in respect to Monday’s inferno at the command’s exhibit yard at Iriebe in Obio/Akpor local government area.
The five suspects we gathered, were arrested by the Command’s Intelligence and Anti-vandal team who cordon the entire area for trying to break into the premises.
Our correspondent reports that the Exhibit yard of the Rivers NSCDC command on Monday evening was gutted by fire.
Addressing Journalists in Port Harcourt, the State Commandant, Tambuwal said investigations is ongoing to unravelled those behind the cause of the inferno that gutted the Exhibit yard of the command.
He stated that the cause of the incident can only be ascertained at the expiration of a thorough investigation but the nefarious activities of saboteurs cannot be undermined
Tambuwal affirmed that the fight against pipeline vandalism and illegal dealings in petroleum products is non-negotiable adding that the Corps would continue to collaborate with relevant security agencies in tackling the menace of illegal oil dealings in Rivers State
He maintained that the exhibit yard contained several impounded trucks of suspected Automotive Gas Oli (AGO) which a part of it had been forfeited by Court order and were to be auctioned by professionals.
