Imo Gov’s aide on Diaspora, Hon. Osakwe-Hibbert receives 2020 Platinum Award, advocates for positive discrimination

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has honoured the Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, on Diaspora Affairs, Hon. CLLR. Celia Osakwe-Hibbert with 2020 Platinum Award of Excellence.

Information gathered revealed that the award from NYCN; the apex youth body, is in recognition of her uncommon strides in Human Capacity Development.

Presenting the award in Akwete, Ukwa-East Local Government Council Headquarters, Abia state the Chairman, NYCN, Ukwa-East chapter, Comrade Emmanuel Akparanta described Osakwe-Hibbert as a selfless public servant who has sacrificed so much and places highest premium on the welfare of downtrodden in the society.

This, he said, the group has taken note of over a long time and decided to specially honour her for the sterling performance, urging her to sustain these uncommon rare qualities.

In an exclusive interaction with National Ambassador Newspapers, Hon. Osakwe-Hibbert who expressed delight for receiving an award from the youth group, further advocated for the adoption of positive discrimination in Nigeria using the formula 50:40:10 for male, female and disabled respectively for political offices.

Osakwe-Hibbert who is also the first black Councillor in United Kingdom (UK), explained that political seats, if strictly reserved in that order would bring equity and fair political representation in the country.

In her words: “Wherever there is a will, there is a way. It is working in UK and it can also work her. It is called positive discrimination”.

She urged youths to shun political thuggery and engage constructively in preparation to take over political offices in 2023, adding that power is not given but taken.

The Imo Governor’s aide further charged youths, women and disabled persons to emulate Hon. Chidi Topaz Olujie who has risen to excellence and prominence against all odds.

“You can rise above anything you think is a stumbling block. Just work at it and you get
