Imo Governor, Hope Uzodinma, To Deliver MOUAU’s 12th Convocation Lecture 

Ahead of the 12th Convocation ceremony of the Michael University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), the Imo state Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, will be delivering the 12th Convocation Lecture of the Institution.

The ceremony which kicked started with a Press briefing yesterday, would have the 12th Convocation lecture today at the Senator Anyim Pius Anyim Auditorium with the Imo state Governor as the guest Lecturer.
The ceremony which would be chaired by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, CFR,CON, would have the Imo State Governor, Sen Hope Uzodinma, sharing insights on national development with the topic,” From Ivory Tower To Innovation Hubs: The Renewed Hope Agenda for Economic Transformation and Sustainable Development”.
The MOUAU Vice Chancellor, Prof Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, who made this disclosure at the Pre-Convocation Press Briefing held at the School, expressed gratitude that the institution was witnessing its 3rd Convocation ceremony since he assumed office as the 6th Vice Chancellor, and the 12th Convocation since the creation of the university.
Prof Iwe noted that the ceremony would be admitting graduands from 2019/2020 to 2023/2024, into the Convocation, stressing that the ceremony is a demonstration of their commitment to the university culture and calendar.
The Varsity don further invited Nigerians from all walks of life, including representatives of the government, captains of industry, vice chancellors and heads of institutions, traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders to the epoch event that would see the convocation of 5208 graduands.
He highlighted that the institution has been recording remarkable milestone,which underscores its tireless efforts to cultivate a culture of excellence, empowering students to reach their full potential.
However, he reeled out some challenges confronting the university, particularly the lukewarm attitude of staff, following the issue of withheld salaries, as a result of the 2022 eight months long industrial action by staff unions. He said though, the Federal government tried in addressing the issue of the withheld salaries, but revealed that most staff were yet to recover from the pain,thereby, affecting their productivity.
On the issue of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, the Vice Chancellor disclosed that funds from the Agency have been helpful, as most infrastructural development and purchase of equipments in the school, have been made possible through the TETFund.
The Vice Chancellor further wished the graduands well in their endeavors, urging them to always represent the school in a good light and strive to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of the society.
