Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has extolled the agricultural revolution of the late Premier of the defunct Eastern Nigerian region, Dr. Michael Iheonukara Okpara saying that he is inspired by his leadership
prowess.
Speaking during a remembrance service of the late political sage in his Umuegwu Okpuala Ohuhu, Umuahia North local government country home of the late Premier where he joined the family in remembrance of the demise of the late former political sage, Dr Ikpeazu said that the late Dr. Okpara legacies especially in agricultural sector are yet to be matched by any political leader in Nigeria adding that he remained inspired by the late Okpara’s leadership prowess.
Ikpeazu said his administration was following Okpara’s footsteps in growing oil palm in the State as well as cashew, rice production among others and stressed that the shoe of governance he left was too big for anyone to wear.
Governor Ikpeazu while thanking God for the life of the wife of the late Premier, Mrs. Adanma Okpara, who he described as a symbol of hope and encouragement to the family and state, appreciated the son of the late premier Chief Uzodinma Okpara for always identifying with his administration.
Responding on behalf of the family, Chief Uzodinma Okpara thanked the governor for identifying with the family and assured the governor of Ohuhu peoples support his reelection bid in 2019.
The governor later laid wreath on the grave of the late Premier.
Meanwhile, the Ohuhu clan have honoured governor Ikpeazu, with a chieftaincy title of Dike Oha Ohuhu and adopted him as their sole candidate for 2019 governorship election.
The event was part of 2018 IWAJI OHUHU ceremony & Grand Reception in honour of the Governor during which the people through a former State Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Chief Uzodinma Okpara extolled the achievements of the governor Ikpeazu and maintained that he deserves a second term in office.
Responding, governor Okezie Ikpeazu thanked the ohuhu people for the honour done him assuring that his administration would always carry them along.
He urged them to obtain their PVCs so as to vote in candidates of their choice in the forth coming 2019 general elections.
