The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Engr Ogbonna Abarikwu, has disclosed that he is not coming into politics to make money but to build legacies.
Abarikwu who made the disclosure at his country home in Okwoyi,Isieke,Ibeku in Umuahia North Local Government Area,when he hosted Isieke community leaders to intimate them of his decision to represent the good people of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the Green chamber, said he is coming to rewrite the wrongs and as well, change the narrative of Ikwuano/ Umuahia federal constituency.
In his speech, Abarikwu decried the level of dilapidation in major infrastructures in the area, stating that the roads in the constituency are all in bad state.
He pointed out that most of the public facilities in the area are nolonger functional, with little or no concern given to the health facilities in rural areas.
According to him, it is very important to present a strong voice that would speak up for the constituency and also help effect positive changes in the area come 2023.
Reeling out his blueprint for the development of Ikwuano/Umuahia, Abarikwu said he would prioritize education, bringing it to standard and making it accessible and as well, revamp the health sector,to deliver quality health services to people.
He added that since Agriculture is the main stay of the people of Ikwuano and some parts of Umuahia,he would be focussing more on the construction of feeder roads and other linking roads across the various communities in the constituency, thereby, aiding farmers to evacuate their farm produce to the market.
Abarikwu also noted the importance of portable drinking water across the constituency, particularly in areas where it is difficult to dig borehole, promised to rehabilitate the water reservoir in the constituency.
He called on the electorates to shift from the statusquo and ensure they vote in credible leaders in the forth coming polls.
The APGA candidate further urged the electorates not to derail in their choice,but choose wisely.
Meanwhile, the House of Reps candidate, promised to rebuild confidence in the people, by being transparent and creating room for checks and balances.
He added that his mission is to identify the needs of the three Local Government Areas that make up the constituency, fashion out a plan to meet the needs of the people, implement and maintain the plan and if it is appreciated, it can form a template for successive administrations.
In his speech,the former President General of Ibeku Ancient Kingdom, Chief Onwunaruwa Onuoha, lamented that the Eke clan in ibeku is the most marginalized politically, stressed the need for the clan to present a strong voice from the area to jostle for political position in 2023, commending the bold step of Ogbonna Abarikwu, whom he said would bring his wealth of experience to bare.
In their separate speeches Ikechi Ukoha and Chief Bernard Nwosu, chairman Umuajiji community, prayed for Abarikwu to win the election.
According to them,the Isieke clan in Ibeku has so much being marginalized, hence the need to give them the opportunity to occupy a political position come 2023.
They described him as a refined personality,whose stay in overseas, can influence positively the level of development in the area.
The Women president Okwuta Ibeku, Happiness Ebere, the chairman Non Indigenes living in Isieke, John Amaechi, Mr Bob Ekekwe and Ihekweaba Ngozioha, praised the personality of Abarikwu,saying his kind is what the Ikwuano/Umuahia constituents need.
They encouraged people to go for their parmanent voter cards, adding that Abarikwu should engage in house to house mobilization,if he must scale through.
