Ikpeazu welcomes the first baby of the year

 

Wife of Abia Governor Mrs. Ikpeazu with others as she received the first baby of the year at FMC, Umuahia.

 

The Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, has paid a visit to the first baby of the year along with 5, other children born in the same day at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia.

The first baby of the year 2020, who weighed around 3.5 KG, was delivered at exactly 2 :56 am, to Mr and Mrs. Uche Charles Nwaeze from Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State.

Speaking with National Ambassador at FMC Umuahia, the Governor’s wife said it is the tradition of the state that the First Lady welcomed the first baby of the year and make presentations to the baby and others delivered on the same day to celebrate the new year.

According to her, we are here to receive the first baby of the year with others and to make presentations to them as it is our culture and a good thing to do.

Mrs. Ikpeazu, explains that the administration led by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, places much premium on the health of our children and mothers.

In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director, FMC, Dr. Azubuike Onyebuchi, said that it is a privilege to be visited by the wife of Abia Governor and expresses his willingness to transform the medical centre to a world class institution.

However, Mrs Ikpeazu made donations and gifts to other nursing mothers at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the husband and father of the baby Mr. Uche Nwaeze, who spoke in behalf of the family thanked the Abia First Lady adding that this has shown the value the state government places on the health and welfare of its indigenes and others living in the state.

Also in a related development, the Governor’s wife commissioned 2, bedroom bungalow built for Mr. Manasseh Anyanwu, of Ntighauzo, 3, bedroom bungalow for Mr. Aguwamba Isaac of

Mgbaraugba Ovom Ama Asa and a 2, bedroom bungalow for Mr. Kelechi Iroegbu of Iferife Ntighauzo, all in Obingwa LGA.

Mr. Manasseh Anyanwu who spoke for the beneficiaries said they were humbled and giving a sense of belonging in the state.

Manasseh expressed his gratitude to the administration led by Governor Ikpeazu who is working hard to support the indigent in the state.
