Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has paid a morale boosting visit to the 200 Trainee Farmers currently on a two week intensive and Integrated Training on Agricultural Best Practices and Agribusiness at Gura Town Nasarawa State.
The 200 Farmers drawn from the three Senatorial Zones of the State are sponsored by the Abia State Government fully providing sponsorship for accommodation, feeding, training materials and some stipend to all the Trainees.
A release by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,Onyebuchi Ememanka said apart from practical training in different kinds of modern agricultural practices, the training also covered lectures in the effective management of Agribusiness where the trainees were taught the economics of Agriculture under the auspices of the Bank of Agriculture, an agency of the Federal Government. They were also taught the different loan packages available to farmers on the platform of the Bank.
Governor Ikpeazu during the visit assured them of the commitment of his administration to continue to support the development of agriculture in the state.
He commended the trainees for their commitment and resourcefulness, and tasked them to put the skills and knowledge they have acquired from the training to good use as soon as they return home.
The Governor assured that the wonderful performance of the first batch of 200 trainees will encourage the State Government to sustain the program and send more batches for the training.
The trainees expressed their deep appreciation to the Governor for affording them the golden opportunity to expand their knowledge of modern agricultural practices which they said has strengthened and prepared them for self reliance.
Also part of the visit was Professor Gabriel Okenwa, Executive Director of the Bank of Industry and the CEO of CSS GLOBAL FARMS, Dr. John Kennedy Opara.
