Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has urged corps members who just passed out from orientation camp to accept postings to their primary areas of assignment in good faith.
Dr Ikpeazu who gave the admonition during the closing ceremony and terminal parade of the 2018 youth service corp, Batch B orientation course held at NYSC permanent orientation camp, Umunna, Bende local government urged them to see their service year as a rare opportunity to impact on the life of their host and learn their culture and norms of their host community by purging themselves of any biases as to discover new grounds.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Youth Development, Ugoeze Ifeyinwa Uwasomba, described Abians as visitors friendly and urged them to embarked on life touching developmental projects assuring that hardworking ones would be rewarded in line with the government belief in hardwork and in reward of commitment and excellence assured of his government determination to continued to support and assist the NYSC scheme in the state as well ensure optimal well of the corp members posted in the state.
He extolled the roles their predecessors played towards the development of the state especially in the fight against illiteracy, their active participation in the Universal Basic Education Programme, free healthcare delivery, fight against the spread of the dreaded HIV/AIDS, drugs Abuse and empowerment of the youths through Skills acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development ( SAED ).
In her address, the state Coordinator NYSC, Mrs Francesca Ifon disclosed that the crops members have satisfied all requirements for postings to different part of the state for their primary assignment and joined the governor to urged them to accept their posting letter in good faith as most of them would be posted to the rural areas where their services would be mostly needed.
Mrs Ifon further stated that the crops members exhibited high degree of discipline, obedience, responsibility and leadership skills during the orientation course assuring that they would contribute their quota to their host communities.
The state NYSC Coordinator urged them to be a good ambassadors of the scheme and avoid acts capable of ridiculing the scheme, their families and the nation at large .
Mrs Ifon expressed her appreciation to the state government for their financial assistant to the scheme and the released of funds for the construction of drainage to checkmate erosions in the camp, and the renovation of the pavilion as well commended the Chairman State NYSC Board and the host communities of Item, Alayi and Igbere for their immense support and hospitality.
