Ikpeazu Task Abia Female Office Holders On Self Development

Abia State Governor’s Wife, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu Addressing Abia Female Office Holders At Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia Recently. 

The wife of Abia Governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, has organised a one day leadership development workshop for female political office holders in the state with the theme “Transformational Leadership in Evolving Society “.

Declaring the workshop open at the Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia, the Governor’s wife said that the workshop is timely and apt because as women we always find ourselves in various roles sometimes as bonafide leaders or other times as advisors to our husbands who could be occupying offices, therefore women are expected to show some skills of leadership.

According to her, ” we are gathered here to share knowledge and ideas about how to enhance the leadership potentials in our women.

“At community level, religious organisations and work places, opportunities abound for women to show dexterity in leadership.

So understanding the dynamics of leadership becomes important for a woman no matter where she may find herself.

In the workshop, the guest speaker, Professor Ogbonna Onuoha, who delivers lecture on the art of effective leadership explained that leadership is not about what you acquire or places you visited but on the of level human, capital, infrastructural development and the lives you are able to transform.

He chided those leaders who are bent on making money from the society and those they lead as not leaders.

In her speech, Professor Roseline Ndumele, of Abia State University Uturu, who deliberated on building and investing in personal capacity said that capacity building can be referred to developing, improving personal potentials for the benefit of the society.

She listed avenues for capacity building to includes education, skills acquisition adding that no one is too old to learn new things

Also, a member of the school senate, Abia state University Uturu, Professor Kate Ndukuba, in her lecture titled Leadership Trait, Comportment and Etiquette, said that leadership is all about helping people to develop and achieve what they want achieve.

She expressed that a good leader exhibit self confidence and respect by creating a bound between him and those he leads.
