Ikpeazu Receives Nkwonta, Others Back Into PDP Fold

 

 

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Tuesday received former Chieftain of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, ( APGA) Chief Chris Nkwonta and thousands of his supporters who rejoined the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP).

 

Speaking at the formal reception held at the Central Primary School Akwete, Ukwa East Local Government Area, Governor Ikpeazu noted that the return of Chief Chris Nkwonta to the PDP is historic and very important to the PDP adding that his presence would make a remarkable difference in the political sphere.

 

Ikpeazu who described Chief Nkwonta as a man of his words said he is happy to associate with him as a fellow politician who plays politics without rancor or bitterness.

 

He assured Chief Nkwonta that all rights and privileges will be accorded him and urged him to abide by the tenets of the PDP.

 

The Governor who said that the PDP is the right Party for Ndigbo and other lovers of good leadership, expressed confidence in Chief Nkwonta and his likes to support him ensure the emergence of a southerner as the next president of Nigeria.

Governor used the occasion to direct the immediate commencement of palliative works along the Obehie-Akwete- Azumini road to enable the people of Ukwa East and West access their local government headquarters.

 

He noted that he has equally flagged off the reconstruction of the Obioha Ohuru road connecting Ukwa East, Ugwunagbo, and Aba South LGAs and called for the support of the people to the present leadership.

 

Governor Ikpeazu who promised to look into the electricity issues facing the people of Ndoki said although provision has earlier been made for the same purpose, he would liase with stakeholders of the area to fashion out a lasting solution.

 

The State party Chairman of the PDP Chief Asiforo Okere said that the presence of Chief Chris Nkwonta in PDP will make a remarkable difference in Ukwa East as he is a force to reckon with, adding that with the development all opposition in Ukwa East LGA have been collapsed into the PDP fold.

He thanked Chief Chris Nkwonta and his followers for listening to the voice of reason as manifested in his decision to rejoin the party,as well as Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for facilitating his return to the party.

 

In their separate speeches, Chairman of the occasion, and Sole Administrator ASOPADEC,Chief Emeka Stanley, the Member representing Ukwa East state government constituency Chief Paul Taribo and Ukwa East PDP Chairman Sir Okechi Nwohu commended the decision of Chief Chris Nkwonta to return to the PDP fold, adding that the decision will further strengthen the party for future elections.

 

In his remarks earlier,Chief Chris Nkwonta assured his return to the party will no doubt further consolidate the overall achievements of the party in all strata and called for Unity of purpose to enable the party emerge victorious at all levels in the forthcoming 2023 general elections and beyond.

Chief Nkwonta aligned himself to the political ideology of the party as propounded by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu which he said has led to several completed and ongoing developmental strides of the present Administration.

 

Deputy Governor Sir Ude Okochukwu, former deputy Governor Chief Acho Nwakanma,members of the state Executive council, members of the Abia State House Of Assembly,Party leaders and stakeholders among others graced the ceremony.
