Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has said that his administration would continue to partner the Nigeria Immigration Service ,to achieve enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state.
Governor Ikpeazu stated this at Government House Umuahia when he received a delegation of the Federal Ministry of Interior and the Comptroller General, Immigration Services who were in the state for the official Commissioning of the Permanent Office Complex of the Nigeria immigration service, Abia State Command.
He commended their efforts in relating well with investors who visit Nigeria and Abia State for partnership in promotion of indigenous products adding that the greatest achievement of his administration is the complete reversal of the phyche of the average artisan on made in Aba products.
The Governor equally commended the complimentary efforts of the Federal Ministry of Interior for enabling ease of doing business and growth of indigenous companies describing them as development partners.
Ikpeazu while congratulating the Nigeria immigration service on their milestone of building a befiting headquarters in Abia State, equally assured of his continuous support to the federal paramilitary agencies in the State.
Speaking at the Official Commissioning of the permanent office complex at Ubakala, the Minister for Interior, Lt. Gen (Rtd) Abdulrahman Dambazau expressed belief that the edifice will provide the needed ambiance for officers of the command to do their job in a condusive atmosphere .
Dambazau represented by Major Gen Emmanuel Bassey (Rtd) thanked the Abia State governor for his support to the Nigeria immigration.
The Comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service,Muhamad Babandede while stressing the need for partnership with government at all levels said, the command is ensuring good control of migrants and poised to make Nigeria very competitive in ensuring that investors enjoy ease of doing business.
Babandede while calling on officers of the Abia State command to make good use of the edifice,urged them to work with other paramilitary agencies in the State to deliver better services to Abians .
According to him, the agency is delivering services to Nigerians to tackle the influx of illegal immigrants ,adding that another command will soon be commissioned in Pleateu state to boost the operations of the agency.
In her address, the Comptroller Abia State Command, Iniobong Inyang, noted that the approval for the allocation of 4.6 hectares at Mgbarakuma ubakala yielded positive dividend on August 2012 by the Theodore Orji administration while the project was completed in 2012.
Inyang assured that with that having been provided with a suitable working environment, the command is poised to render better services to the public in line with the mission of the Nigeria Immigration Service .
