Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has laid the foundation for the construction of Ovu Ndi Eze Obingwa with the assurance that the building would become a reality within six months.
Governor Ikpeazu gave the assurance during the foundation laying ceremony of the Obingwa Traditional Rulers Council Chambers and unveiling of the year 2022 Calendar held at Obingwa Council Headquarters, Mgboko.
Ikpeazu while assuring the people of greater things to come before the completion of his tenure in 2023 said the Owo/ Onicha Ngwa road, Agalaba ring road, Azikiwe as well as Omuma and Faulks road would receive the needed attention this dry season window as the state government has completed payment to contractors handling the road projects.
The Governor assured that his administration would complete the New Government House among other projects.
He thanked the Obingwa Traditional Rulers for their sustained support and prayers for his administration and prayed God to bless them.
Chairman, Obingwa Local Government Area, Hon. Ibe Michael Nwoke in his address thanked Governor Ikpeazu for his love for Obingwa and other LGAs across the state adding that the people are happy to have him as Governor and assured of their continuous loyalty and support to his administration.
In his remarks earlier, the Chairman Obingwa Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Jacob Ananaba while appreciating the Governor for honouring the event described the ceremony as historic.
He noted that not many Traditional Rulers in the state have a Secretariat adding that the Obingwa royal father’s decided to build the Secretariat to host the Governor after his tenure in 2023.
