Ikpeazu Lays Foundation For Building Of Aba Health Village

 

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has laid the foundation for the building of Aba Health Village at the premises of the Aba General Hospital, with a firm assurance that the project would be completed in record time.

 

The Health Village which spans about 62 thousand square metres would house a Mother and Child Specialist Hospital, World class Doctor’s Suite as well as a Kidney and Heart Centre.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Ikpeazu said he conceptualized the Aba Health Village in fulfillment of his promise to the people to revive the hitherto moribund General hospital to cater for the health needs of Abians.

 

The Governor revealed that the Aba Health Village would equally cater for the treatment of non communicable disease such as Diabetes, High blood pressure, Ashma among other ailments.

He disclosed that his administration is spending 1billion naira to procure equipments for the centre, adding that 80% of the needed facilities would be provided for contractors handling the project to ensure speedy take off.

 

Ikpeazu, while noting that the Health facility is strategic for those living in Aba and it’s environs said that the Aba Health Village would put an end to the quest for world class Medicare outside the shores of Abia and beyond.

According to Governor Ikpeazu, his adminstration has resolved the over 5years outstanding accreditation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council at the Aba General Hospital and returned full accreditation to the institution which he said has moved the enrollment of both courses from 30-70% each thus creating opportunities for youths to train as nurses and midwives.

 

The Governor announced that his administration would equally lay the foundation for the building of an Ultra Modern Diagnostic Centre in Isuikwuato LGA which will serve other hospitals in Abia North Senatorial district.

 

Ikpeazu who reiterated his commitment to ensuring quality healthcare of Abians urged the people not to relent in their prayers and support for his administration.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Osuji commended Governor Ikpeazu’s intervention in the transformation of the healthcare sector in Abia State ,adding that the Health Village would be of immense benefit to citizens as well as residents.

 

In their separate speeches, the Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital Management Board, Dr. Christopher Ahuruka and the Chairman, Aba South Local Government Area, Clinton Ebere, commended the governor for his giant strides in the health and other sectors of the state economy and urged him not to relent in delivering quality services to the people of the state.

 

Governor Ikpeazu later inspected the ongoing construction of the Mother and Child Specialist Center in same premises.
