As part of efforts to deepen quality Health care services with reduced cost to the citizens,Abia State Governor,Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has inaugurated a 13-member committee of the Abia State Board of Health Insurance Agency.
The committee whose chairman is Professor Mkpa Agu Mkpa is charged with the responsibility of making Abia a first call in the Health Insurance Scheme.
Inaugurating the committee at Government House Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu expressed confidence in the ability of the committee to live upto its mandate and make Abia the focal state among the 36 States in terms of domesticating Federal government Health policies and in driving initiatives that are peculiar.
He noted that the inauguration of the committee is also in line with Federal government policy towards making Health care available and accessible to all,adding that the Board would give strong backing to the health insurance scheme of the State.
In his response on behalf of other Board members, the Chairman, Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa noted that healthcare is one of the cardinal areas of the present administration and promised that the committee members will put in their best to make Abia the first in terms of healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
Prof. Mkpa thanked Governor Ikpeazu for finding them fit for the job and assured that they would not disapoint the State.
