A member of the National Board of Trustees of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Ahamdi Nweke, has hailed the developmental strides of the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, adding that he has outperformed all his predecessors.
Speaking with newsmen in Umuahia recently, Nweke regretted that infrastructure in Aba had suffered gross neglect and decay since after the late Sam Mbakwe, until the emergence of Ikpeazu.
The APGA chieftain who contested Abia Central Senatorial seat with immediate past Abia governor, Chief T.A Orji, insisted that Ikpeazu’s tremendous gains in the infrastructural development of Abia, surpassed that of his predecessors.
He maintained that contrary to his initial fears, Ikpeazu had outperformed his predecessors put together in terms of infrastructural development.
Nweke faulted insinuations that APGA has collapsed in Abia, as a result of the defection of a two-time governorship candidate of the party, Alex Otti, to the APC.
“Otti is not the soul of APGA; the ethos of the party and the people are the driving force”, he further disclosed.
According to the APGA BOT member, “I’m among those who didn’t give him a chance, but he has proved pundits, including me, wrong. Ikpeazu has done well in terms of road infrastructure .
“If all the governors before him did their bid as he has done, Abia would have been far better.
Truly, the governor has surprised someone like me. That’s not to say we have the best yet. There is a lot to be done, especially in youth employment and payment of workers’ salaries”
