As the Body of the former Member Representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency, late Hon Ossy Prestige makes it’s finally journey, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has conveyed the gratitude of the State Government to the deceased for good stewardship and contribution to the welfare and development of the State.
Speaking at the Service of Songs organised in his honour at the Abia State Polytechnic Aba , Gov Ikpeazu noted that the State has benefited immensely from the interventions and contributions of the late Ossy Prestige at the Green Chamber.
Governor Ikpeazu who stated that it would be difficult for the State to find a replacement for the late Hon Prestige at the Green Chamber,described the deceased as his “personal friend whom he shared great moments with”, and prayed God to grant succur and consolation to the bereaved family, his constituents and Abians in general.
“The death of Ossy is a personal loss to me and my family. I will rely on the benevolence of God for consolation.
“Even as we morn, we submit wholely to the will of God.
“My Bible tells me that it is possible that we will meet our loved ones again, never to part no more”.
He urged Christians to reflect on their lives and its ephemeral nature as well as the constant and imminence of death so as to strive to live lasting legacies.
“It is also instructive that we learn from these events how we live our lives. We may not have anything to do about the circumstances of our birth. We may not also have anything to do about when and how we die but we can certainly influence how we live and relate with others”, Ikpeazu said.
In his sermon, the Catholic Bishop of Aba, Rt Rev Augustine Echema, represented by Monsignor Okechi Ajonu called on Christians to live a conscious and examplary lives and prepare themselves for the life hereafter.
He noted that the late Hon Ossy Prestige lived his life for God and made Christ the centre of his life which enabled him render selfless service to humanity and prayed God to console those he left behind.
The ceremony which was attended by dignitaries featured renditions from various choir.
Late Hon Ossy Prestige who died at the age of 56, is survived by his wife, five children and a host of other relations, and would be laid to rest on Saturday this week at his Abariba country home, Ohafia LGA.
