Ikpeazu Commissions Nkporo Cottage Hospital,Calls On Indigenes To Protect The Facility

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has Officially Commissioned the Nkporo Cottage Hospital, in Ohafia Local Government Area with a clarion call on Medical and paramedical practitioners from Nkporo community to support the facility with their expertise.

The Nkporo Cottage Hospital boasts of fully equipped Maternity with facility that will take care of mother and child, Ultra-Sound equipments, Radiate Wormer for new born babes, Incubators, Fully Equipped Theater that can undertake Orthopedic Surgery, Fully equipped laboratory and Solar Powered System to ensure 24 hours power supply.
Speaking at the event, Governor Ikpeazu who expressed happiness that the hospital, conceptualized by his administration has come to fruition said it would serve the health needs of the most vulnerable members of the society including the aged, women and children.

 

The Governor said his adminstration deployed it’s resources and strategies to procure world class equipments and expert personnel that would mann the equipments for the benefits of members of the community.
He noted that the hospital is  structured in a such a way that it would be managed by the Doctors and medical practitioners who are indigenes and residents of the Community to ensure proximity and full benefit of the facility to the people.
According to Governor Ikpeazu, the hospital will be driven by a management committee superintended over by a board comprising of members of Nkporo Development Union, whose job would be to make sure that the doctors and nurses are at work at the appropriate time all year round.
He announced that the hospital would recieve a subvention of One Million Naira from the state government for the first six months adding that the staff stand a chance of being absorbed by the  Hospitals Management Board and retained in the community if they perform well.
The State Chief Executive who promised to donate an ambulance as well as support the building of a staff quarters in the hospital premises,thanked members of Nkporo community especially their son, the Deputy Governor for ensuring timely delivery of the facility.
Also speaking, the Deputy Governor,Sir  Ude Oko Chukwu who is from Nkporo community, while appreciating the Governor for changing the narrative in healthcare system of the people said the medical facilities in the hospital could  be compared to  hospitals in Abuja and assured that they will own the hospital and protect it.
In his address, the Commissioner for Health Dr. Joe Osuji informed that the hospital has all that is needed to function effectively including all the departments and trained personnel to manage it pointing out the hospital would give the people affordable and accessible healthcare.
Dr. Osuji said the Governor has provided ultra modern pediatric hospital, Mother & Child  Healthcare Centres and renovated the schools of Nursing in the State as well as awarded a 100 beded building project in the School of Midwifery, Amachara which he said has earned the institution accreditation adding that the efforts of the Governor in the healthcare is a sign that health centres in the State will get a boost.

Chairman Ohafia Local Government Area,Dr Okoroafor Ukaiwe,commended the governor for having the health interest of the people at heart. He said the project means so much to the people as it will reduce infant and maternal mortality rate among women and children as well address other health challenges of the people and assured that the project will be will protected and put to good use by the people.

The event featured good will messages by President Nkporo Development Union, Benjamin Imeri, Member Representing Ohafia North at the State Assembly,Hon Mandela Obasi among others as well as a conferrement of a Chieftaincy  Title on Governor Ikpeazu as Enyi Anyi (Our Friend) by Traditional Rulers from Abia North Traditional Council.
