Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has formally Commissioned the Permanent Office Complex of the Abia State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB.
The Four Storey ASUBEB building which houses the Abia State Scholarship Board as well as the Abia State Continuing Education Center, is located at the highbrow Ogurube Layout Umuahia.
Speaking at the ceremony held at the ASUBEB Permanent Office Complex,Governor Ikpeazu said the vision of his administration in the Education sector is to create adequate infrastructure and the necessary ambience for teaching and learning process.
The Governor disclosed that upon his assumption of office in 2015 , his administration paid the backlog of counterpart funding for ASUBEB from 2012 and also delivered over 650 new classroom blocks across Abia in addition to building 4 new model schools across the state.
He commended his predecessor Senator T. A Orji who conceptualized the building of the office complex described the feat as the beauty of continuity in governance.
He noted that the building houses the Continuing Education Center whose mandate is to continually train teachers in the state as well as the reinvigorated Abia Scholarship Board which has secured admission for over 25 Abia youths to study abroad.
The Governor thanked the leadership of ASUBEB for sharing in his vision and charged them to continue to train and retrain teachers in the state adding that basic Education is the foundation for survival of every society.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Basic Education, Chief Ukwu Rocks Emma while commending Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his giant strides in education said Abia has made its marks in the Education sector by setting up structures to compete with the league of technologically advanced States.
The Executive Chairman ASUBEB, Elder Josiah Anonaba thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for granting Basic Education special attention which has made it function optimally, adding that ASUBEB can now boast of one of the best office complexes in the country.
