The Abia state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has charged participants of the Senior Executive Course 41, 2019 of the National Institution for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Jos ,to come up with relevant reports and information that will enable all tiers of government to improve on effective health care delivery.
Dr. Ikpeazu who gave the charge when he received a delegation of the Nigeria Institution for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru Jos, at Government House,Umuahia, noted that having made health one of its cardinal policies, the present administration established over 272 primary health care centres in all the Local Government Areas of the state, as well as equipping general hospitals with state of the art equipments .
The governor, represented by his deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu ,said in addition to upgrading health institutions across the state , government established the telehealth technology that allows patients to access doctors through their phones for advise and prescription to meet their health needs and described the theme of their study” funding universal Health care delivery in Nigeria” as very crucial.
He further disclosed that primary , secondary and tertiary healthcare across the state will remain his administrative priority and urged them to interact freely with government officials and relevant stakeholders in the task of gathering and identifying challenges and prospects that will move healthcare delivery forward.
Earlier in his speech, the leader of the delegation of senior executive course 41,2019 , Air Vice Marshal, H.C. Okpala who said they are in the state on fact-finding and field visit on relevant government and private organizations in the health sector with a view to identifying challenges and prospects that is applicable to Abia which is one of the six states chosen for their study tour and solicits cooperation to help the health care of Nigerians.
