IKPEAZU CHARGE CORP MEMBERS ON COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has implored corp members deployed to the state to remain steadfast in their service to the Nation as they commence their community development service.

Dr.Ikpeazu who made the call while declaring close the 2018 Batch C stream 1 orientation programme for Corps members deployed to the state at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Umunna, in Bende LGA, urged them to translate into concrete achievements the principle of positive living, loyalty, dedication to duty, discipline and patriotism towards the development of the state and Nation at large.

The governor represented by his deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, he reiterated the state government’s willingness to utilize their services in all spheres of life, particularly in the area of teaching in the various schools and urged them to ensure that positive values and knowledge are impacted in the school children addition to serving their host communities with diligence.

He further assured that his administration would not relent in his efforts towards ensuring optimal welfare of corps members posted to the state as well as reward every commitment and excellence and encouraged them to devote some of their time to self development and self reflection on their plan for post service life especially in areas of skills s acquisition and entrepreneurship development programmes.

In her address, the state NYSC coordinator, Mrs Ifon Francesca said that during the course of the orientation exercise, the corps member were involved in healthy competitions including drills, cooking, football, skills acquisition, debate among others.

She urged them to ensure that they leave a mark on the sands of time in their various host communities as well as appealed to all corps employers to take the welfare of corps members posted to them as a matter of utmost priority.
