Governor Okezie Ikpeazu was today honoured with The Most Media Friendly Governor of All Times Award by the Abia Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria.
The award is coming barely two weeks after the members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ),Abia state council conferred on him Grand Patron of the Union during their Media Summit held recently in Umuahia.
Presenting the award to Governor Ikpeazu at the Micheal Okpara Auditorium,Chairman of the Abia Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria,Mr. Ugochukwu Nwankwo lauded the governor for creating a conducive environment which he said has enabled their members operate without fear or intimidation.
He further noted that the association has enjoyed a smooth working relationship with the Governor since the inception of his administration.
“There has been no hitch in the discharge of our duties and Governor Ikpeazu deserves the award of recognition as the “Most Media Friendly Governor Of All Times”, Nwankwo concluded.
Governor Ikpeazu in his acceptance speech,described the Online Media Practitioners in the State as a special breed of people whose presence has positively affected governance of the State.
He described them as partners in development and called on them to desist from actions that tend to cause rancour in the society.
Governor Ikpeazu who urged them to project the various activities of the state government, charged them to be objective in their reportage as well as engage in constructive criticism for the progress and development of the State.
The governor while commending them for their diligence in the discharge of their duties urged them to continue in the same trajectory.
