Ikpeazu applauds Kanu Nwankwo on proposed Heart transplant centre

Abia- born Sports Ambassador Kanu Nwankwo has been lauded by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for proposing to set up a heart transplant centre in the state.

Speaking when he received the football legend, Kanu Nwankwo and his team in his office at Government House Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu commended him for sharing in his administration’s dream of making Abia a tourist centre through the Kanu Nwankwo foundation.

The Governor who disclosed that his administration set up a kidney centre at the Amachara General Hospital to cater for the healths needs of people with kidney related issues, promised to give the needed logistics support for the proposed Heart center.

While describing Kanu Nwankwo as a man with raw talent ,Ikpeazu applauded him for being a good ambassador of the state and for making Abia proud at the world level.

He urged Kanu Nwankwo to come up with a template for his grassroot sports development so as to enable government partner his foundation in the project and announced the intentions of his government to celebrate him next year.

Speaking earlier, the sports Ambassador Kanu Nwankwo while noting that the that his foundation has entered into agreement with Indian Doctors to set up a heart surgery center in the state,said the Kanu Heart Foundation has successfully carried out a total of five hundred and sixty one open heart surgeries since inception.

He thanked Governor Ikpeazu for his efforts in health as well as sports development, noting that Governor Ikpeazu was one of the stakeholders that cheered the Super Eagles to the commendable stage they attained at the just concluded AFCON in Egypt.

The soccer ambassador who also presented Governor Ikpeazu with a branded jersey,said Abia under the Ikpeazu administration has been sponsoring three club sides in the state, adding that he is at present focusing on developing football at the grassroot through the KANU INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL ACADEMY (KIFA).
