Dilapidated Court buildings in Abia State will soon receive Infrastructural upgrade as Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has set up a committee that will take total inventory of the state of courts for immediate attention.
The Committee would be headed by Elder Paul Ananaba SAN.
Governor Ikpeazu stated this shortly after the swearing in of Justice Okey Nwamuo as the Acting President Abia State Customary Court of Appeal,at Government House, Umuahia.
The Governor noted that the duties , impact and relevance of the judiciary to the economic development through dispensation of justice cannot be overemphasized.
He therefore charged the acting President of the Customary Court of Appeal Justice Okey Nwamuo to contribute his quota in the development of the State.
The Governor thanked the immediate past President of the Customary Court of Appeal Retired Justice Stella Marris Onyenso for her contributions to the growth of a robust Customary Court system as well as the judiciary as a whole for its support to his administration.
In his acceptance speech, the Acting President of the Abia State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Okey Nwamuo while thanking the Governor for the honour done him,promised to reciprocate the confidence reposed in him as well as abide by the oath of office.
Justice Nwamuo noted that the task before him is an onerous one, and expressed optimism that it is achievable with the feat recorded by his predecessors and commitment demonstrated by the Governor in matters concerning the judiciary.
It could be recalled that the appointment and swearing in of the acting President of the Customary Court of Appeal followed the retirement of Justice Stella Maris Chinedum Ururuka Onyenso.
