It was an atmosphere full of accolades for the Member Representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Jerry Uzosike,on Friday,as guests who witnessed the commissioning of various projects to mark his three years anniversary as a member of Abia House of Assembly, poured encomiums on him.
Top on the list was Governor Okezie Ikpeazu who performed the commissioning ceremony of some projects built by Hon Uzosike, including a three bedroom bungalow for a widow, Mrs. Oluchi Uzoma and a reconstructed Matron Quarters in Umunwanwa Healthcare Centre with provisions of borehole and other facilities.
The ceremony equally witnessed the distribution of 180 various empowerment equipments to small business owners, such as sewing machines,Deep Freezers among others with over Forty Nine persons trained in various skill acquisition programmes, fully funded scholarships and appointments secured by the lawmaker for his constituents.
Speaking while commissioning the projects at Umunwanwa, Umuahia South LGA, Governor Ikpeazu represented by the PDP Governorship candidate in Abia State, Prof. Uche Ikonne extolled the uncommon representation of Hon. Jerry Uzosike and commended him for advancing the development of his constituency through quality representation.
The Governor’s representative who equally flagged off the distribution of empowerment equipments to the people,extolled Hon Uzosike for his people oriented projects noting that the lawmaker has redefined representation with his track record of achievements.
He said; “What Jerry is doing here is a testimony to the peaceful atmosphere between the executive and legislature. It is not an ordinary representation,it shows that he is in tune with both the government and his constituents and also a sign of what is coming in the days ahead”.
Ikonne stressed the need for all to support PDP to sustain the developmental projects in the area and enjoined beneficiaries of the various empowerment programmes to make judicious use of them.
Similarly, the Abia Central Senatorial hopeful, Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd) congratulated Hon. Jerry Uzosike on the array of projects he has done within three years in office and described him as “a template for leadership recruitment having done his people proud”.
Akobundu expressed joy that the victory of PDP in the forthcoming election is assured based on the works already done by Hon. Uzosike in his constituency and Abia State in general.
In their separate speeches, the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem, the Chairman, Umuahia South PDP caucus, Pastor Emeka Inyama, Dr. Max Ndukwe Adindu,and the President General of the Umunwanwa community, Mazi Uzosike Uzochukwu among others, eulogized Hon. Uzosike’s qualitative representation adding that they are proud of him.
They further commended the lawmaker for his support to the healthcare policy of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu through the reconstruction of the Umunwanwa health center and assured that he would return to the State House of Assembly in 2023 to complete his good works
Earlier in his remarks, the donor and Member Representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Jerry Uzosike disclosed that the projects he has been doing in the past three years is in line with his resolve to deliver quality representation beyond legislation.
Uzosike, who reelled out his achievements to include training of youths in skills acquisition, distribution of empowerment equipments,building of houses for the indigent, support for small business owners, said he has attracted employment opportunities, secured fully funded scholarships as well as drilling of boreholes, renovation of healthcare centres among others for his constituents.
The lawmaker thanked the PDP stakeholders in Umuahia South for their overwhelming support urging them to sustain it with massive votes for the PDP in the 2023 elections and assured that other ongoing projects in his constituency would be completed in due time.
