Rep of The Wife of Abia Governor, Mrs. Love Ezema ( C ), The Executive Chairman of Isuikwuato LGA, Chief Chima Agbaeze ( R ) and wife Mrs. Becky Agbaeze during Sickle cell sensitization and medical outreach in Isuikwuato LGA.
The wife of Abia Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, has extolled the Executive Chairman of Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Chief Chima Agbaeze and his wife for instituting a monthly praise and worship to draw people closer to God adding that nothing can be achieved without faith and the blessings of God.
The Governor’s wife who was represented by the Former Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) in the state, Mrs. Love Ezema, commended the wife of the Council Chairman, Mrs. Becky Agbaeze, for using the occasion to marks and sensitize the people of the LGA, about the dangers of sickle cell disease and how to prevent it.
The Governor’s wife also reiterates that sickle cell disease can be stopped if only we know our genotype to avoid having babies that are prone to the disease.
However, the Abia First Lady expressed that another problem the society is facing now is gender based violence.
According to her, ” children are being molested and adults are abused sexually and violently”.
She frowned at the menace and call on all to reports offenders to the appropriate autorities as we all stand against any form of abuses.
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary Health, Mrs. Uloma Anosike explained that sickle cell disease is a group of inherited red blood cell disorder from parents to their offspring.
It is also a condition in which the red blood cells are shaped like a sickle or half moon and causes severe pain, organ damage, serious infections and even death.
However, the only means of breaking the cycle and prevent the disease is by knowing your genotype, she further stated.
In her remarks, the Chairman of the Council, Chief Chima Agbaeze, thanked the Governors wife for joining them at the Council to fellowship together and extending the Vicar Hope Foundation’s medical outreach to care for those already affected by sickle cell anemia.
Agbaeze expressed that when he first mount the leadership of the council, security issues was one of the paramount issue confronting the council but today we have nip it in the bud and can now sleep with eyes closed.
Also the Chairman’s wife, Mrs. Becky Agbaeze who led the council in a series of prayers and worship latter led the Governors wife to Obiala Ugo Community where she flag off polio eradication at the primary health centre.
