The Federal Fire Service, Tuesday donated a brand new
Fire fighting truck to it’s training school in Abia.
The well equipped truck with modern gadgets will also serve as emergency response to fire incidents across the state.
Receiving the fire fighting truck at Government House Umuahia, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu advocated for proactive measures be taken to ensure that citizens are educated on the risks of fire and how best to curb outbreaks.
Ikpeazu said; “Abia people and citizenry across the country should be educated about the risks of fire and how best to relate with flamable materials and substances that are capable of putting our properties at and the responsibility of citizens whenever there is an outbreak”.
The Governor while acknowledging the hard-work and industry of men of the Fire Service across Nigeria, expressed hope that the truck will serve humanity.
He commended the Abia Command of the Fire Service and pledged continued support to enable them function well.
“We on behalf of government commit that the training school in Abia will flourish and recieve unfettered support both in terms of logistics and otherwise to enable not only the take off but indeed the operationalization of the school will come to reality.
“We will also continue in our support for the command in Abia state to ensure that they keep lives and properties safe from fire”, Ikpeazu said.
Earlier while presenting the truck to the Governor, the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Dr. Liman Ibrahim,explained that the truck is to be used for training at the Federal Fire Service Training School located in Abia State as well as for emergency response to fire incidents across the state.
Dr Ibrahim represented by the Assistant Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Dr. Callistus Agu, said that the training school would cover for the training of the fire men in the South East geopolitical zone.
