‘If You Abandon Me I Will Fail’ Gov. Ikpeazu’s CPS tells journalists

The newly appointed Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Abia State, Barrister Onyebuchi Ememanka, has called for a collaboration between the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Abia State chapter and the state government for a Comprehensive information management.

Ememanka who made the call on his maiden interaction with Journalists in the state at the union secretariat in Umuahia recently said that he came in humility and sincerity to solicit for help to succeed in the job as Governor Ikpeazu’s image maker.

He said that he acknowledged the challenges of the union and will do something within his limits to change the statusquo but pleaded to the journalists not to abandon him.

According to him, “I have come here to plead for collaboration because I am aware that no chief press secretary or commissioner for information will succeed without the help of information managers like you so do not abandon me because if you abandon me I will fail but I want to succeed with your help “.he said.

The Governor’s image maker also explained that the problem with most political appointees is that they refuse to understand that they are passengers in a political bus, adding that he want to be productive and make impressions while the appointment last.

Responding, the State Chairman of the Union Comrade John Emejor, stated that Ememanka has taken the right steps to present himself in humility to the union and assured him that the union will give him the maximum support he needs to succeed.

He maintains that no journalists in the state will write to incites but to operate within the profession’s guidelines and ethical codes of informing, entertaining and educating the public about government activities and policies.
