The Chief of staff to the Governor,Dr. ACB Agbazuere has assured media practitioners in Abia state that he will not fail in the discharge of his duties.
Agbazuere stated this Tuesday when the Executive Council Members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Government House Umuahia.
The Chief of staff who thanked members of the Union for felicitating with him on his appointment said, “my appointment is not only for me,but for all of us. You (NUJ) discovered me years back and made me Pillar of NUJ in Abia State. I will make a difference in what others have done,I will not fail you”.
He expressed sadness that up till now the Abia NUJ does not have a permanent secretariat and assured that the Okezie Ikpeazu led government will complete the NUJ secretariat under two years.
According to him, ” it is the desire of Governor Ikpeazu to conclude the building of Abia NUJ secretariat in record time”,adding that the governor is passionate about the welfare of journalists in the state.
The Chief of staff while recalling some of the achievements of governor Okezie Ikpeazu so far which he said will further improve the socio economic development of the state,enjoined Abians to embrace farming.
He said the new agrarian revolution by the state government is aimed at ensuring food security wealth creation, rural empowerment among others.
In his speech earlier,the Chairman, NUJ Abia state council, Comrade John Emejor while congratulating the Chief of staff on his appointment, said his coming was ordained by God.
He appealled to the Chief of staff to use his good office and ensure the timely completion of the NUJ secretariat to save it’s members from unnecessary shame and reproach.
Emejor used the occasion to invite the COS to the Media Summit of the NUJ scheduled to hold on 10th December 2019 where Governor Ikpeazu will be invested as Grand Patron of the Union.
National Trustee of the NUJ,Ezeogo Bonny Okoro in a vote of thanks appreciated Governor Ikpeazu for bringing the Chief of staff on board especially at this time of his tenure and expressed hope that his coming will birth new beginnings for the NUJ and Abians in general.
Describing Dr Agbazuere as a Pathfinder and trailblazer, Okoro assured that journalists in the state will work in tandem with him to achieve the governor’s objectives.
